The Palmer Studio works in big and small ways. Either through collaboration with architects and interior designers, or directly with clients who are seeking something original for their floors.
With our expert rug knowledge and connections, The Palmer Studio can also assist with the design, management and production of white label rug collections for stores and small businesses.
Working from our ‘mobile’ studio, we are adept at working with international clients near or far.
Whatever we do, high quality, thoughtful and original
design is at the forefront of our brand.

Improving the living, social and educational prospects
in the areas of the world where our rugs are made are
central to the values of The Palmer Studio.
We only work with mills that are aligned with
our values and integrity, to ensure that no child
labour is used in the making of our products.
Our environmental footprint is also a key consideration
in our production choices. Use of traditional production
techniques helps to preserve natural resources.
Focusing on small batch production and custom rugs,
we are the antithesis of ‘bulk’ rug manufacturers.
We value bespoke design and production
over 'fast fashion' carpet trends and wastage.

From the hand-drawing of our unique designs to the selection of a perfect colour palette and fibres, each step of our rug making process is expertly undertaken. Yarns are transformed into colour by a dye-master, grid drawings or canvases are prepared, and by hand the rug is created and finished by skilled craftspeople.

The Palmer Studio & the little P brand was founded by Philippa Briscombe in Sydney, Australia.
Philippa has a background in interiors & textile design. Her love of travel and art influence her design process and style. Whilst her commitment to quality and sustainability informs her production process.
All rugs are produced by hand in established mills by talented artisans.
Philippa moved to Hong Kong with her husband and 4 children in 2016, then in 2019 the family relocated to Barcelona, Spain. A new adventure has now taken them to Malaysia.
WHAT'S IN A NAME?
Philippa's first design studio was located in Palmer Street, Sydney, in an old Presbyterian manse. The same space was previously the studio of Margaret Grafton, a talented and esteemed tapestry artist. Grafton has been called ‘one of the most significant figures in the history of contemporary crafts in Australia.’
